As The BBC announce the end of Film, does this mean that instead of a new thread starting in a few days titled Film 2019 it will need to have a completely different title
That's just a short compared to Bertolucci's 1900 which is a mere 5 hours and 17 minutes which I saw at the Odeon when released in the 70s, at least it had an intermission
More Film 1968 than film 2018 but saw 'Once Upon a Time in the West' this evening at the Old Market. I always enjoy seeing old classics on the big screen and with direction by Sergio Leone, a score from Ennio Morricone and Henry Fonda in his only baddie role what's not to like.
Great fun
I saw Solo today, and have a slightly better view on the film than the 2 posts above.
The one thing that holds the film back is that in scenes where Hans is in danger you know he wont be beaten as its a prequel and we all know what he goes on to do in the Star Wars series. There was also more...
Saw The Post, another film with no action (apart from the opening Vietnam sequence) an d a dialogue based film. However I found the storytelling riveting with the tension building slowly as the film progressed. As usual very good performances from Streep and Hanks, with Streep particularly good...
Really enjoyed Darkest Hour.
Gary Oldman is superb as Winston and is virtually on screen for 100% of the film. His performance will no doubt win awards.
The film is all dialogue and almost zero action, but in my test of whether a film is good or not, I never once looked at my watch to see how...
Watched Hostiles
Christian Bale gives a superb performance as the main character in a western set towards the end of the conflict with native Americans. The scenery is stunning but overall the film is slow and predictable.
Not a great western
Looking forward to seeing Hostiles next week.
My wife is also looking forward to seeing the remake of Overboard, where the male/female lea roles have been swapped
