I did say it was pretentious! They won't let you go in for a drink (even if the tables are all empty) because they are reserved for 'diners'. However my main problem is the way they treat their staff. It dissappeared a few years ago - now a crazy golf course.

I love this place (I grew up in Littlehampton, and still make a point of going to Fred's every time I head home).

Don't bother wish the East Beach Cafe. The menu is overpriced and pretentious. Also they have form for 'forgetting' to pay their staff. Go and admire the wonderful Thomas Hatherwick architecture for all means, but take a walk to the other end of the prom and go and eat in the cafe next to the...
