To be fair, I think we were all thinking the same thing in the first over of the match when Starc bowled a half tracker that bounced twice on the way through to the keeper.
In addition, at his best he's one of the best batsman to watch in world cricket. He's got all the shots and he isn't afraid to use them.
Given his ability, his average is a little on the low side. If only he had a bit of Steve Waugh about him, he'd be a great.
Again, I don't necessarily disagree with the thread of what you are saying but the rest of the batting didn't really perform in that 2013 series. He was in at 30 odd for 3 on quite a few occasions.
His 36 is negatively impacted by 2 poor series against McGrath/ Warne et al.... Not too many made...
Yup, definitely agree with the point he was brave with Mooen. Still not totally convinced he knows what he's doing with spin bowlers but it was much, much better.
Better field placings and better plans - I reckon that's a combination of coach, captain and bowlers. But credit to Cook.
Yup. Agreed, I've given Cook plenty of stick in the past but he's had an excellent innings. Though when your bowlers bowl with that level of discipline, this captaincy lark becomes far easier.
