Esben and The Witch return with a (mainly) acoustic EP featuring an excellent cover of Black Sabbath's 'Planet Caravan,' reworkings of 'Dig Your Fingers In' and 'Marching Song.' as well as a new one.
Rather good it is too.

So was anyone else on JLin before AOTY season? This track is so big that to call it a banger would be to do it a disservice.
I have no idea what I'd do if it came on in a club though. Probably shit myself.

And continuing the local theme, we did the album launch for Ingrid Plum's 'Plangent' album a couple of weeks ago and it was one one of my favourite shows of the year by anyone. I'm not sure the record portrays to you how special her voice is but if some beautiful sung, minimal folk/ sound art...
Really? I'm surprised. One of my all time favourite Brighton bands, awesome live - Guy was just dynamite as frontman.
Anyway - that's no indication to the sound of this lot tbf.
I've had my eye on Krak Krak for a while, the project of former 80's Matchbox drummer Rob Ling for a while, their album came out yesterday and it's rather good.

Warning: It can be a little \m/ at times.
Dan Avery has released his first solo production since 2013

All the hallmarks that made Drone Logic such a treat, little bit darker and less dancefloor though.
Fans of Swell Maps, This Heat or Canadian, geniuses Women (I know there's at least one of you) will get a lot from Housewives debut album. Their cassette last year was a personal highlight.
For the uninitiated- it's dischordant, scratchy post-punk/ noise-rock. Artier than the Tate Modern...
The 4th album of utter brilliance from London's Teeth of The Sea is streaming over at The Guardian.

This time, they are name checking Aphex Twin, Angelo Badalamenti...
What was the last one of theirs you did go back to time and time again? Probably Microcastle/ Weird Era for me. I liked bits of Halcyon and enjoyed Monomania, whilst simultaneously thinking it was a bit lazy.
Some excellent stuff in The Quietus's alternative Mercury Prize including Brighton's own Kemper Norton and Gazelle Twin

Kemper plays The Joker on 10 November supporting Hypnotized

Has anyone had much of a chance to spend some time with the Deerhunter album? Gave it a cursory listen just now, surprised by how upfront the vocals and production are, it appears to be the most straight forward thing they've done. Need a few more listens to work out if it's any good or not.
