Fair comment chap. I was taking it more from a "Do I take offense" angle, rather than "Do I think it is offensive." To clarify, I find homophobic abuse offensive.

Why would a straight person be offended unless they thought that there was something wrong with being gay? I think the offence is likely to be caused to football loving gay men and women. Football & homosexuality aren't mutually exclusive.
