    [Politics] Russia invades Ukraine (24/02/2022)

I've read somewhere (credible) that Trump needs 2/3rds Senate agreement to pull out of NATO - which is a big ask.

In real life my experience is that most people love the USA. This seems to be reflected on here.

Well in that case I wait to be utterly surprised when further aid for Ukraine is actually agreed in the US. The proof will be in what actually happens - and on the evidence of the speaker trying every trick in the book so far to derail aid - then I don't even have a 1% hope it will actually...

Yes - there was aid in the past. No longer. The US has finished supplying any aid. It has proved itself to be an unreliable partner. Aid has finished. The house speaker simply will not allow any vote to be held on supplying any more. The aid has already been cut off. Nothing for Trump to cut.

What support ? There is currently none from the US. Trump can't cut anything. There is no longer anything to cut.

    [Politics] Russia invades Ukraine (24/02/2022)

I'm not so gloomy. Total defeat is off the table, I think - that is beyond Russia's battered military capability now. Serious setbacks for Ukraine, perhaps. Kharkiv could be very vulnerable, losses in the East. Putin won't give up on Odesa but that is a difficult aim for Russia even now...

With some joined up thinking part of the response to the Iran drones should be airstrikes on the drone factories - including the ones that produce the drones Iran sells to Russia to use to kill Ukrainians.

The good thing is that Trump cannot pull the US out of NATO without a 2/3rds Senate approval. The bad thing is that he could still refuse an Article 5 call to arms although the pressure on him at that point may just make that temporary. I hope that we don't get to find out.

American aid has stopped anyway and they are the main ones whinging about attacks on Russian soil.

Surely they should instead be begging Russia to drive east out of Ukraine resulting in instant peace ?

4 words : Vanguard, Vigilant, Vengeance, Victorious. Does the punk called Putin feel lucky ? Tusk does have a lot to be worried about. However it seems that Tusk and Macron are finally seeing the threat. Even though I detest Starmer's offer as a whole, I hope he falls in behind Poland and...

1000km from the border ! But, yeah Vladimir, totally believable that Ukraine is faffing about attacking theatres in priority to more strategic targets 🙄

Clearly if Ukraine had really wanted to blow up the False Flag target they would have used a long range drone swarm and not actual gunmen. And they would have hundreds of higher priority, higher value targets anyway. So, Putin's feeble blame casting is fatally flawed by both the above.

The Kremlin doesn't care if its ridiculous lies are believable - in fact it reflects in the glory that the lie is so see-through and yet there is nothing anyone can do about it. They do what they want. Points scored.

That's a terrible strategy. Putin would then conscript loads of conquered Ukrainians into his army - and then use them to attack the next country on his list. A 140 million population Russia would then become a 180 million population.

I read that. He is acting unhinged so as to make himself a joke - and not be seen by Putin as a rival.
