Not in Ethiopia unfortunately. There are just so many ways to 'get done'. Ethiopian pickpockets are masters of all forms and I have been left speechless with admiration at some of the tricks employed and they don't all follow the traditional boring distraction techniques.

Never anything violent fortunately, but I have been pickpocketed loads of times, Pamplona, Rome (several times) and Ethiopia (loads of times, its endemic there) Plus, got my expensive camera nicked in Peru several years back.
