So if HMRC further investigated the financial well being of those 1100 already caught for tax evasion lets say between 1979 and 1997 they would find them all squeaky clean ?
The footballers were advised to invest in what was considered legal tax avoidance schemes which HMRC now deem as tax evasion whereas clients of HSBC were advised just to hide their money from the taxman. I bet the footballers will cough up more when they come to settle their tax bills.
Yet some retired professional footballers are now being chased for investing in schemes that the HMRC now say are dodgy and face handing over seven figure sums to clear their tax bills.
More importantly the data was only given to HMRC in 2010 and the Tory/LibDem coalition have conveniently turned a blind eye so as not to upset their rich buddies but instead launch scathing attacks on benefit cheats.
