I think any transfer would be done with our usual ‘undisclosed’ fee with maybe a speculative price leaked to journalists in order to keep fans happy - not that USG fans won’t already be very happy with Tony Bloom’s purchase and investment being the catalyst for their club storming into the...
I don’t think he’ll do any transfer from USG in January - like I said above. However, if a transfer is done in the summer it’ll be done at whatever fee is beneficial to both clubs, which I imagine will be based on respective FFP regs and if either club is sailing close to the wind.
As an...
I agree that it’s unlikely to happen in January, for that reason and also that he’s not going to walk straight into our squad.
As for so-called gifts, the majority shareholder can do what he wants in terms of who he sells an asset to and at what price (assuming the contract is acceptable to...
Of course we will. If USG have players that would improve us then they’ll definitely be on our radar. His current league stats already eclipse Trossard’s in the same league the season before he joined us, and any player that gets selected for this current Belgium squad is clearly going to be good.
Not that many over the course of 7 decades of football, which sort of proves the point that top-flight teenage sensations are the exception. Most players, in any position, don’t reach their full potential until their mid 20s.
There’s also the less obvious value of the players that are in our first-team squad, and how much they’d have cost to buy if they’d not come through the system.
On the other hand, from summer onwards we’ve no longer been making amortisation losses on:
Izquierdo
Propper
Jahanbasch
Ryan
Can’t remember the reported fees of the above, but it possibly equals itself out before that 50m starts to be eaten into. I think that the money is there for further...
Whilst paying a few quid for promising but unproven youngsters for development is something we do regularly, there’s no way we’re paying as much as 7m for a player destined for the U23s!
