Well Chicago does win game 4, tying the series at 2-2. For the third time in four games overtime was once again needed to decide the outcome. Game 5 is on Saturday in Chicago and I really couldn't call it.
And it's another victory for Boston, this time with two second period goals and a solid defensive peformance to lead the series 2-1. Next game Wednesday in Boston and I feel Chicago have to win it.
Getting back to the game, as you probably realised Chicago beat LA to progress to the final. It was close though, LA equalized with 10 seconds to go forcing overtime and it wasn't until the second period of overtime when Patrick Kane completed his hat-trick to take the win.
So the Stanley Cup...
In plain English that meant that Boston won 1-0 at home to complete a 4-0 clean sweep of the series and will play in the Stanley Cup Finals, to probably play Chicago unless the Kings can work some magic tonight.
Current state of play with both games almost over I feel.
In the Eastern Conference
Boston Bruins 2 v Pittsburgh Penguins 1 next game Friday 7th in Boston
Series (3-0)
And in the West
Chicago Blackhawks 3 v LA Kings 2 next game Saturday 8th in Chicago
Series (3-1)
Yes though you could say the Penguins were a little unlucky last night. After being being beaten twice away from home, no-one held out much hope for them at Boston last night. It did however take the Bruins until 15:19 in the second period of overtime to get the winner.
Yes most teams do have what is called "an enforcer" who deals with any roughness from the other team. Scrapping can be pre-arranged if something has been brewing from a previous encounter but it doesn't happen that way too often.
After last nights results ...
In the Eastern Conference
Pittsburgh Penguins 0 v Boston Bruins 3
Series (0-1)
And in the West
Chicago Blackhawks 2 v LA Kings 1
Series (1-0)
Yup so we have
In the Eastern Conference
Pittsburgh Penguins v Boston Bruins
Series (0-0)
And in the West
Chicago Blackhawks v LA Kings
Series (0-0)
and both first games are on Saturday night.
With the Eastern conference all sorted our attention turns to the West. St Louis win 2-1 at home to take the series to a 7th game and Chicago win 4-3 in Detroit to do the same.
