agree 100%. i would’ve liked another midfielder last summer even if we had kept hold of caicedo. in my opinion the strongest our midfield has been was when we had bissouma and caicedo to rotate between. note that guido rodriguez of real betis has an expiring contract this summer. a bit older but...
I do think we suffered without Gilmour and we would’ve kept hold of the ball a lot better had he been available. I just think the idea of playing him and groß as the midfield two has been far from ideal, and massively highlighted his weaknesses. I do agree we will need another midfielder this...
i certainly wouldn’t vehemently disagree.
but i do think it is pretty evident that they are physically superior. that means they will press us much better, and without anyone to match that strength, we are really going to struggle against teams like them, everton and villa across the season
