Actually, I have always quite liked Farage. I think he is slightly racist (to what extent I really don't think it's worth debating), but his direct, blunt talking was refreshing. I do not think he's suitable to be a politician as he lacks diplomacy (but then again, I think diplomacy - aka...
The frightening thing is, the options available to govern the country are shocking.
The Tories don't really have the interests of the masses as a priority (and I would be a more natural Tory voter).
Labour are a shambles and are drifting further to the left. Un-electable IMO, as they appear...
The problem with both the Brexit and Italian vote is that the politicians didn't get what they wanted. So, I think you're point is actually misplaced in these circumstances.
Also in Switzerland, they get lots of referendums, and I don't think may people would question their democracy credentials.
But I don't care about the Lib Dems. That's the whole point - I think they have become an irrelevance in British politics. The purpose of referring to him/Lib Dems was in relation to another poster saying that the Lib Dems would be targeting Remainers and this would be a concern to the Tories...

Trading in Unicredit shares has been suspended after the bank's stock fell by more than 5%.
Shares in Italian banks have slumped after Prime Minister Matteo Renzi's resignation yesterday, which some fear will make it harder for lenders to...
I direct you to http://www.minibus.ltd.uk/minibus-dimensions-web10.html , as this is a 9 seater minibus, with 1 of those seats being occupied by the driver. but, I guess Tim 'Mr Nobody Knows Me' Fallon could multi-task and drive as well and keep costs down.
Yeah, all 8 of them. Oh sorry, they'll need another minibus now as there's 9 of them. Christ, they couldn't even get a footie team together. In terms of popular vote they are behind UKIP.
As for Tories being hijacked by UKIP - FFS, there has always been a sceptical side and a Europhile side...
Yes they are very different, and elections aren't such a major impact as referendum/constitutional changes. I agree about democracy, and the Brexit vote should be seen as the democratic choice of the country.
However, what (may) irritate a number of Brexit voters are things such as:
1...
Yes it can IMO. But the Remainers were the ones proclaiming that the sky had fallen in with the knee-jerk reaction of the markets immediately following the vote. Then, when things started to recover and the statistics kept coming out better than forecast, they were saying that BREXIT hasn't...
How do we know that the ECB hasn't been stabilising the currency and/or supporting the Italian banking stocks?
The problem here is that the Italian banks are acknowledged to be in a very bad state and the Italian state cannot afford to bail them out. Added to this the potential for 5 Star to...
Well, after the no vote, Italian banks are being hit (but not as bad as had been expected). Slow burner here I think, as the Italian economy is weak anyway, so political instability will cause further issues.
Major problem will be if there is a run on the banks, as Italy is far too big to be...
I agree with you about the EURO structure not being viable, and the solution is not palatable to the nation states (i.e. fiscal transfers from the successful/rich to the failing/poorer countries). However, we aren't out of the financial crisis IMO. The "growth" being achieved is on the back of...
With the last 4 polls all pointing towards a rejection of the constitutional changes being requested by Renzi, how serious an impact to the EU, EURO and financial markets will this be if this happens?
Are the warnings being over-played by the Yes side (as per both sides in the Brexit debate) or...
