Just because Peter Moores was coach when Sussex won the County Championship does not disguise the fact he was an aberration as England coach. County and test cricket are worlds apart.
Surely in a team that is short of talent, it makes sense to retain the player in it that possesses the most natural talent. Build a team of triers but no natural ability and you have the New Zealand cricket team and they are not challenging at the top of the test rankings.
He's in pretty good company then! He still has scored more runs than any other English batsmen in recent tests, so if it was a purely cricketing decision (which we all know it isn't), then the whole batting line-up would have to be dropped. He's been made a scapegoat because of how good he is...
