I only had a pop at a big mouth who can dish it out in spades but can't take it. I've just been saying what great guys the guys in the trades are. There is one person I'd rather not deal with though.

That's the thing. Nobody is an expert. That's why we pay for someone else's expertise. My chaps were nice. I'd rather pay an extra grand to use them than be stuck with a pompous loud mothed thug know all type boiler engineer.

which bit is hard to understand? The total cost was 2k. The new boiler is a Worcester. 5 year guarantee. so far 3.5 years works a dream. Removing the old one was a massive pain in the harris job. Not quite sure what you are on about as usual. I'm trying to help the OP not justify myself to you...

had one replaced 3 years ago. The old one was massive. They had to take it out and take it away, do all the pipework and install a new on the wall one. The total cost of boiler plus labour [no VAT] was circa 2k. Could easily have paid up to 4 k for a better boiler. 2 guys did the job in a day...
