This sounds a shame and not unexpected from the trailers. But then again there is no other way to recreate these events.

I've watched The Pacific a couple of times now. My word it is grim. I'm sure it's historically accurate but it really is a hard watch (because of that). Important to see but not really entertaining. edit - I watched it all again a second time a few years later thinking perhaps it wouldn't be...
