I think you are picking on the wrong bloke here. I paid the £30 for a travel voucher and sat amongst many who did not. I tried to pay last night but couldn't.

There was a queue at the station for the ticket machine. I would suggest 20 people from it (including me) did not have time to get a ticket so boarded the train.
Southern Rail then decided that despite the fact that this was clearly going to be a busy train not to check / sell tickets...
There was no one at Seaford to take my money! I had a fiver in me hand. I was then quite prepared to give it to an inspector but none were forthcoming!
