No, not required as the usb c is the only inlet/outlet though this can be annoying if charging is required while listening on headphones. I’m sure the business brains at Apple have got this covered by designing an adaptor for this purpose at a ridiculously high price!. I got around this problem...

My apple iPad Air, purchased last September has the new usb c type connectivity for power supply and earphone. There are no other connections on the machine. Seems Apple are ahead of this legislation already !
