I've seen every game. Looks ok. But no better than a top 10 epl plodder. Which is a great level but nowhere near the world class player people made out on this site.
Can I just play devil's advocate here a little.
Maccer struggled for 2 years. He wasn't great on the pitch , he wasn't great off the pitch and he nearly left. As a club we supported him all the way. So he did owe us quite a lot when things turned for him.
Trossard, caciedo and cuccu pretty...
Caciedo has the same thing as well apparently. It was basically the only way we could get them to sign extensions. We will benefit overall in the long term but I suspect we won't be getting crazy fees for either player.
Caciedo might only be 75m now I suspect if there's a release clause. Still...
No it wouldn't as with the contract nearly over teams would only bid 30 odd milly. This way everyone wins. We get a good fee maccer got his pay rise. He leaves at the end of the season. Simples.
Or maybe they're not watching through Brighton tinted glasses and have seen that he's not quite up to their (top 2) standard and is about Brightons current standard at Europa League level.
Before all the WC hype somewhere around 55m sounds about right. At the time we thought maccer would be a bit part player for Argentina.
People have just completely lost their perspective since he won the WC and played well in the final.
This thread is going round in circles.
A few respected journos have discussed this exit clause so there may be some truth to it. We know the club don't normally do this kind of thing but this might have been the only way to get maccer to sign an extension.
