Caciedo has the same thing as well apparently. It was basically the only way we could get them to sign extensions. We will benefit overall in the long term but I suspect we won't be getting crazy fees for either player. Caciedo might only be 75m now I suspect if there's a release clause. Still...

No it wouldn't as with the contract nearly over teams would only bid 30 odd milly. This way everyone wins. We get a good fee maccer got his pay rise. He leaves at the end of the season. Simples.

Before all the WC hype somewhere around 55m sounds about right. At the time we thought maccer would be a bit part player for Argentina. People have just completely lost their perspective since he won the WC and played well in the final.

Good investment.... Not a bad place to go with time off as well.

This thread is going round in circles. A few respected journos have discussed this exit clause so there may be some truth to it. We know the club don't normally do this kind of thing but this might have been the only way to get maccer to sign an extension.
