Well obviously…….a large element of luck involved case by case and no real pattern (apart from one or two airports that seem to be consistently shambolic). Our cabin crew last night was a couple of staff short but if they hadn’t announced it I wouldn’t have noticed.

Maybe, but son and GF (she’s a teacher so they’re tied to school holidays) came home on Saturday from a week in Gran Canaria via Luton - had the same trouble-free trip both ways (Easyjet).

Landed about 45 mins early at LHR T5 this morning. No queue for passport control, luggage arrived on the carousel literally within a couple of minutes of us getting there…couldn’t have been smoother.

Pretty standard in a redundancy agreement to have a clawback on re-employment but would have thought the current crisis would have led to this being over-ridden. BA in particular seem to have used Covid as an opportunity to offload people on expensive contracts and replace them with much cheaper...

Re 7, apparently one of the issues now at certain airports is people turning up too early (5 hours or more), causing overcrowding, longer queues and meaning those there 2-3 hours before can’t get checked in or through security

It’s difficult - some airlines run their planes on very tight turnaround times, so if there are delays that aren’t entirely their fault (like baggage handling for example which is a separate business) the schedules get trashed. There’s a massive shortage of staff prepared to do low paid work -...

Flew out of LHR yesterday. No real queues at check in, security busy but not unusually so and flight more or less on time. Son and GF flew with EJ out of Luton on Saturday, again no issues.
