    [Other Sport] Couch To 5k

General rule I've always applied is that if it's 'above the neck' (mild coughs, colds etc) then it's usually OK to run (with reduced intensity if you're not up to much), but if it's on the chest/bronchial then you're better off not running. As it starts to clear up, a run often seems to speed up...

I lost most of last week to man flu. Don’t fell bad about it, these things happen. Step back a week and just crack on, forget the ‘missing’ week, it’s irrelevant.

However long you've been running, you'll always have days where it simply doesn't work.............it's very common indeed as any of the longer-term runners on here will testify. Sometimes it's the easiest of training runs that turn totally to ****. The thing you quickly learn to do is just...

It's really tricky........I know some parkruns have, for example, very elderly 'runners' who simply aren't going to improve, but I'm sure getting out and active does them the world of good, even if they're taking more than an hour. Not sure they should be excluded ? One option could be to say...

It's a tricky one....have been at one or two parkruns when the last person to finish has been so far behind the next last, but as a result the marshalls have to stay in place etc (usual race protocol is all runners get the same treatment), but parkrun are deliberately promoting the 'walk' (Hove...

Fabulous stuff........you’ll almost certainly find the 5k times will tumble down quite quickly at first if you keep it up. 30 mins at, for example, Hove Park would typically see you finishing ahead of 150 runners. C25K is a brilliant programme......

If you're not into buying a suitable watch yet, Strava is probably the best phone app for tracking - as a bonus that would also get you membership of the NSC Strava club :) https://www.strava.com/clubs/northstandchat

Out of interest, are you logging any distances or just marking time for now ? Would be interested to see how far 5/25/5 takes you............. Question for driddles - I haven't looked into the C210k programme, but if you're already at 5k, wouldn't you need a step-up from 5k programme ? I...

Don't get stressed about it - it's not supposed to be a chore. If life gets in the way, just bounce it a day - doing consecutive days once in a while won't do any harm....or move the whole programme by a day (ie work as if today never existed). I'm always shunting my plan around to accommodate...

Hove Park, Hove Prom and Preston Park are on wide tarmac paths.......couple of modest inclines at Hove Park and one short steep one at Preston Park. Bevendean is a hilly offroad course I believe
