I live an hour north of Wellington on the Kapiti coast and felt it pretty good . We arrived here 2 years ago and within 2 weeks had a big one . I didn't have a clue what was going on as we were asleep and had never felt one before. The one in 2016 was pretty violent with aftershocks for weeks...
