Very much this. Although one famous case was CMS (declining West Ham) to come here. Maybe we were offering better terms. If we offered a long contract, say 4/5 years as opposed to Hulls 2/3yr contract (obviously just guessing here!) maybe that would swing the pendulum our way? We will soon...

Whoever signs him, won't they have to get the dreaded 'International' clearance for him to play?

Assuming we sign him! I can see him getting a subs berth on a regular basis as he is quite a flexible player position wise. If he is being purchased as a DS player then I would imagine he would be our first choice right back next season if he successfully makes the transition from Irish...
