[Albion] ESU and WSU open for Coventry game

Sadly we no longer have any home games in the FA Cup this season whatever happens so i think this is it...

[Albion] ESU and WSU open for Coventry game

Barber explicitly says they weren’t happy about Palace in programme today because unsurprisingly his job is to shift tickets. And he spends about 1500 words going on at great detail how he likes to shift tickets. He gets some things wrong but today a lot was right. But nonetheless idea that...

[Albion] ESU and WSU open for Coventry game

It’s effectively the emails he sent to NSC users and posted on this thread about 12,000 posts ago.

[Albion] ESU and WSU open for Coventry game

I guess they do estimate demand and take into account these factors. Barber wrote 2 very long emails published on this thread back in the mists of time on page 2 or 3, saying exactly that, but its about nuance. Understanding factors of TV/Monday night/previous game/pricing/FA Cup might dampen...

Yes. If you have a purchase history.

[Albion] ESU and WSU open for Coventry game

I don't think its forgotten at all, just shows how difficult it is to project a FA Cup crowd given how the attractiveness of the competition clearly has faded for some clubs and some fixtures but not others. Even at the Amex a few seasons apart and few weeks apart.

[Albion] ESU and WSU open for Coventry game

Yes., and 11000 v MK Dons on a Saturday 3pm , FA cup 3rd round match last season.

[Albion] ESU and WSU open for Coventry game

Ha ! i will keep banging on :) Well we'll never know but the biggest decision they made was charging £18 and £6 for tickets which means its, 24 hours out, nearly close to a sell out . Far far bigger decision that opening up the stands from the outset. So its really hard to argue its "another...

[Albion] ESU and WSU open for Coventry game

Not buying a striker in the summer is a "f**" up, waiting 7 days to open the East Stand Upper for a cup game v Coventry is not. PS: I know about a dozen or so ST holders, not necessarily a representative sample, but not one of em gives a hoot about sitting elsewhere tomorrow, and nearly all...

[Albion] ESU and WSU open for Coventry game

Yes. I'd have preferred to sit in my seats as well. But was this "buffoonery" - no. Were they not clear about the process ? - no. Was it unusual behaviour on the part of the club - no.

[Albion] ESU and WSU open for Coventry game

No indication ? - really ? - They were absolutely clear from the outset that they would open up the other stands if there was sufficient demand. Which there was. And they did. "If demand requires it, further seating areas will be opened" from the original announcement of ticket prices etc on...

[Albion] ESU and WSU open for Coventry game

Opening the ground area by area for cup games and friendlies isn't an over-reaction or "buffoonery" after Palace - its just normal or being cautious. They've done it many times at the Amex. And its normal for many (non Albion) grounds hosting games like this. As for predicting the crowd then...

[Albion] ESU and WSU open for Coventry game

This sort of thing happens in most matches H / A. Its (normally) the return of guest , player, hospitality tickets - that are then put back on sale if and when at various times leading up to a match. . Nothing to do with any FA Cup/Coventry ticket strategy whether that was correct or not.

Probably because its been offered to schools, clubs or group bookings. I've previously booked a group in there and was offered it a week ago , via an email. (presumably to all previous group booking bookers)

Or the MK Dons game , or Athletico Madrid, or Hull City in the league cup or any other game in the last 6 or 7 years where because demand is hard to predict they've done exactly the same.

[Albion] ESU and WSU open for Coventry game

This is hardly the first game where the club have done this. Its been common practice for non league games at the Amex. Palace was highly unusual. Athletico Madrid, Hull City, MK Dons last season for starters.

Barber told me that i wouldn't get paid for this thread until it had reached at least 20 pages . I did say that its only the FA Cup and a L2 side but he wasn't having it. #BarberOut
