Interesting selection dilemma's for Friday, question marks over a number of places. I would go for the following:-
1.Cook
2.Carberry
3.Root
4.Pietersen
5.Bell
6.Ballance
7.Prior
8.Broad
9.Anderson
10.Finn
11.Panesar
Some really tough choices as Stokes showed promise on his debut, but we need a...
We need to fight fire with fire in Perth and Finn is our quickest bowler and the Perth pitch is tailor made for him. He can be expensive but his a wicket taker and we need to attack them.
Thats pretty reactionary, although some of those arguments are valid.
I would still pick Swann over Panesar although I think since his shoulder injury he hasn't looked the threat he used to. His also a superb slip catcher and dangerous batsman and whilst I'd always say pick your best bowlers...
Too many of our batsman have built careers and reputations against moderate bowling attacks on chief exec pitches. Every time they come up against 'mystery' spin or genuine pace 90MPH+ they are found badly wanting.
20 years ago there were probably half a dozen attacks of this standard, today...
Worrying that Cook, Anderson, Prior & Swann 4 players that have been pivotal to England's success over the past five years look completely bereft of form or more worrying in Anderson's and Swann's case slightly past their best.
Stokes was a big positive with the ball, if his batting can match...
Sounds like
1.Cook
2.Carberry
3.Root
4.Pietersen
5.Bell
6.Stokes
7.Prior
8.Broad
9.Swann
10.Anderson
11.Panesar
Big risk picking Stokes would have been tempted to go in with Bresnan if fit.
