there isn't a trend, its the monetary amount of the current debt being so much more than all previous combined. its not accounting for inflation. it is such a large amount because Brown embiggened the state, in particular welfare with tax credits and such. when economy shrank and revenues fell...

seriously do you believe there are "cash piles" offshore? its economic nonsense, its just holding companies with allocations of shares and such. money doesnt stay still, it moves on the next investment, even if the holder directly doesnt and the banks do it. and its relative, we are offshore...

i am, because that is all inequity of income or wealth can measure. i recognise the problems you ae note and agree they need to be addressed, but they are not caused by or be rectified by narrowing the income or wealth gaps. rents wont reduce if the pay gap ratio reduces from 100x to 50x or...

is there evidence? is any objective or subjectively extracted? or are we simply told this is bad and accept it on face value? if a person has an average income, does it really matter to them, their life and opportunities that someone else has an income 5 times or 100 times that? it seems to...

the question is, if the base has got higher does it matter much that a gap from top to bottom has widened? heard the other day that 1950, 50% of housholds had an outdoor privy. thats unheard of today. everyone is far better off than they were a couple of generations ago, so now the focus is...

thats a good laugh. trouble is for all the talk of the nation in crisis, it isnt. there are problems, but not sufficient for a massive walkout by the average worker. Some union members would probably back it, but i doubt say teachers and nurses would come out en masse to force democracy. even...

share owning democracy was a cornerstone of another politician, who done very well at the ballot box. however, in McDonnells plan, the employee doesnt own anything, shares are transferred to a fund on their behalf and they get a handout, maybe. i know i labour the point but only because the...

Corbyn's comments on the press are interesting. "we will, protect the freedom of the press to challenge unaccountable power... But here, a free press has far too often meant the freedom to spread lies and half-truths, and to smear the powerless, not take on the powerful." So, a free press is...

its "simple", the policy is to go after the share capital, which even subsidiaries must hold to remain limited liability companies in the UK. some smaller/foreign companies may bypass this with nominal share capital and never give a dividend, sending their revenues overseas. as always there's...

i've long ago conceded on brexit, i back it on the basis those leading it would have planned for the implemention. in this i was woefully wrong, that doesnt mean in principle it was necessarily wrong to leave, the arguments for and against are still there. Labours economic policy is deeply...

a call to nationalise the internet, may be from a fringe meeting but demonstrates the sort of views held within the party. control and dictate what is or isnt allowed, mentions an end anonymity, which can only be done through some form of license/state authorisation to use the internet.

reading the actual speech its more nuanced than i read into early reports, you're right. company will give away capital to a fund and the dividends from that will be dished out to employees, upto £500 each, further cash will go to the state. a bribe to little people under control (cant...

actually, Corbyn made an interview with NME where he said they would look in to remove the debt and said "i'll deal with it", exceeding the scope of the manifesto. some including his own MPs took that to mean complete write off of all student debt, because how else could you interpret that...

its not £500 dividend per worker, its £500 share capital per worker. So a company with say 1000 employees would have to issue £500k worth of shares and give it over to employees. again, this is about taking capital, not sharing profits.
