i realise the shift to streaming will occur anyway, the trouble is that Apple streaming in particular will cannibalise the itunes market. and at £15 for a family, only Apple are going to make any money from it.

sad thing is that though she's standing up for the indies, in the long run it doesn help them at all. sale of track on itunes receive 50p, steam revenue 0.00005p a play.
imo the answer is for the artists to leave the labels that tie them into these deals, or at least form a collective label of their own that provides for better royalty distribution.
I have yet to understand why this hasnt happened, the major labels should have died by now as artists dont need...
at £10 a month for streaming services, its clear to a blindman that there bugger all royalties to filter down to the artist, and the "big" artists will get the lions share while the fringe artists will get dust.
