My point was, I do not see why we should back the church of England. Backing one religion to campaign against another religion both with illogical, irrational and misogynistic values. Do not see the point myself.
You have to be kidding? A child is born to Muslim parents, they are a muslim. So, what if they chose to turn their back on their faith? Have you checked the punishment for apostasy?
I agree, both religions are totally illogical. Anyway, I am happy to chat to people via PM if they want to continue the debate but I do not want to continue it on this thread.
Indeed, not many would have predicted those changes in the catholic just even 50 years ago.
RIP and condolences to those involved.
As for those that say this thread has been hijacked and derailed, it has indeed but although not justified, it is understandable. At a time of high emotions...
Another great post. My concern is that Islam cannot 'change its mind' in the same way other faiths can. For instance, the catholic church can update its ideas on abortion or homosexuality or sex before marriage through the Pope, if he gets a message from god (yes, I understand the lunacy in...
Once again, there is the problem with this grey thinking. If men have free will then you cannot believe in gods plan/fate as well. If you believe god has a 'general plan' and men can make their own choices then you cannot also believe that god is omnipowerful and in control of everything. If you...
Good post. Something I often think about is how we can move more towards a secular society without preaching because I do not believe preaching religion or atheism for that matter is a good thing. I have found a huge amount of comfort from losing my catholic upbringing to become atheist and...
Indeed. It was not a solely anti Islam post, it was an anti religion post if anything.
As for your second point, correct, there is massive hypocrisy in the very view of ´gods plan´as by that logic you could never punish anyone or send them to prison. Ludicrous.
The sentiment behind the statement is indeed good. My point is, how can you believe in gods plan/fate and then condemn the attack? Logically that makes no sense whatsoever.
I understand their reasoning for this and they have been quick to get these words out but there are parts of this that show exactly some of the issue-
´Prayers are with the victims´ - prayers to who exactly. the god that planned this, the god that let this happen, the god that did not...
