It's his job to manage and motivate the players and he clearly isn't doing it.

There is no coming back from this. The players don't want to play for him anymore and that won't change if we go down, so all this about him being the best man to take us up isn't valid in my opinion. He deserves to go with dignity and deserves to be remembered fondly, but his time is up.
