BHCC is car hating, but fans arriving in good time can grab pay for bays in the many streets of central Hove, or north of the OSR for free (only limited in day time).
The County Ground isn’t too far from the A27.
It’s central Brighton where the car hell awaits.
The chat evolved into some new flat owners having too many cars, and totally separately 20/20 fans parking fans arrangements.
We’ll leave it there
I never said they were taking residents spaces.
I thought we were discussing my point that everyone won’t be attending 20/20 matches by sustainable transport means. Every time I go to 20/20 matches, the traffic for along way from the County Ground is buzzing?
People won’t give up their cars...
That’s my neck of the woods, I spent 25 years just yards away.
At non-4 day games, huge numbers of cricket fans drive in. Parking in pay bays in the many streets in central Hove and for free in the evenings just north of OSR eg Rigden, Hove Rec. A lot of people don’t mind being restricted to...
That would be perfect.
From what I’ve seen as a lifelong Brightonian, in reality, new flat residents move in with too many cars, and immediately join the street parking permit waiting list for the area. They eventually succeed in getting one, obviously ahead of people moving in later on to...
Totally agree.
I work with developers who do all this, with the sustainable measures sought by councils. Then in the real world residents move in with multiple petrol/diesel cars per household, often taking street spaces. In this, it would be by BHCC street residents parking permits, which...
The development will provide sustainable stuff like secure bike racks and electric car recharging points, which 80% of the residents will ignore with a petrol/diesel-head 2 cars per luxury flat.
I don’t expect Hove will ever stage them. So isn’t the financial model for most clubs is a large annual loss, in effect, met by an ECB subsidy?
200 pensioners on deck chairs watching the 4 day game, a few nights of 5,000 watching 20/20 and an Elton John gig, doesn’t meet the costs.
Shirley amazing changes changes to the stands or new stands, with the finance from 40 x £huge. Otherwise a waisted opportunity from their final ever windfall gain.
Nailed it. I knew people close to the club, they’ve been looking to do this for 10 plus years, to cash in on juicy luxury apartment prices.
Under BHCC’s black and white requirements, 40% of the new flats must be affordables, but the final development will not supply 16 affordables. SCCC will...
