In my teens/20’s I hated being the designated driver when we chose to go clubbing in a town along way from Brighton. Two or three pints, then hours of soft drinks.
So much of it makes sense. Hard to imagine sitting in a pub all evening drinking just water/soft drinks, to then honestly say what a great night. Plus peer pressure to not be a “lightweight”.
A good prog on BBC2 just now. Chiles openly discussing his addiction, and linked mental illness. A big social drinker, he can’t do without booze, I suppose defined as a “problem drinker”.
