We should follow the lead of the Irish Republic, which made trespass a criminal offence in 2002. Although it woudn't stop the robbing freeloaders settled here already, it would act as disincentive to potential new waves of criminals seeing the UK as a soft touch.
It's not about Traveller connections. The public would equally despise these vermin whether they be anglo-saxon, black, whatever.
Clearly the vast majority within the Traveller commununity don't rob and intimidate the vulnerable very old.
They're not ordinary burglars. Long prison sentences received for aggravated burglaries, robbery, intimidation, theft and fraud of old folk in their 70's and 80's.
Not opportunistic burglaries of empty homes by junkies, but cold and planned thuggish robberies of the vulnerable.
There are now 6 robbers of the very elderly left in the Vincent family. (Per BBC new tonight, all with convictions for this).
Is it much to ask that they might start working for a living legitimately?

I’m fine with the lowlife not making it, as nasty as some might find that, but I can understand why passive people including most females would completely freeze on discovering an intruder.
25 years ago a brother in law of an ex of mine, caught a burglar in his Shoreham flat, held him and called the Police. Whilst waiting, he connected with a further few punches on the intruder. The burglar never made a fuss. These days human rights legislation might give a different outcome.
The vermin had every advantage - numbers, surprise, pumped up, screwdriver to hand, relatively youth which comes with strength. Most probably planning and experience. This was an aggravated burglary.
