I didn't know about that.
Quick to jump on Cliff Richard in their righteous crusading, have they commented / reported on their former employee John Peel?
Loved his gig at Concorde 2, last year. A generous set of 2 hours, he unashamably played all classic New Order and Joy Division tracks. Not just a uniquely classy bassist, his vocals more than held up.
I never knew that about The Embassy.
I am old enough to remember Brighton's 20 plus cinemas, and as a nipper was taken to The Embassy to see a couple of films. It might've been The Towering Inferno!
Back to the music, a long time ago, but was the first The Jam gig good?
I know what you mean, but at the time I loved Blue Monday because we were heavily into dance music. Obviously it was New Order's break out from pure 'New Wave' to making clubbing music.
But funnily enough, I've rarely played it in recent times.
Temptation, Everything's Gone Green...
So much great stuff there. John Peel was a music and football loving legend.
I'm lucky to have been at just the right age, to lap it all up at the time. It's great now, finding like minded classy folk on NSC.:smile::smile:
Hi.
I know we've touched on Danse Society before. I saw them at Brighton's New Regent in the early 80's.
Did you get to see them live in the UK or Canada?
Regards
Still brilliant now. At the time, I was told about this song early on by an older brother. I remember hearing it down clubs and bars such as The Electric Grape in Queens Road.
