As well as those listed you could actually go to Jamies itself if you're really after an Oliver place. Alternatively Graze can be very good as well - good taster menus which foodies will love.
Regardless, you've got to be a little bit stupid to go to a restaurant because it's owned by a TV presenter ( who isn't a chef ) ! Great little place though.
Went to Otellos in Hove yesterday with friends and kids. Decided to go as I've had decent meals there before and great service. What a disappointment - greated quite rudely because we were a few minutes late, service was slow and grumpy, had to send two main dishes back because it seemed the...
Went back to the Foragers Pub again this week and still bang on the money. The Pork Belly special was fantastic as was the pheasant. Highly recommended.
I went there 2 or 3 months ago - food was very good. It's nice that you can have as much as you like although each serving brought out is a little small. It's good value at 315 though and I usually go one the spur of the moment rather than use it as a planned night out.
I have to post a negative for the Ginger Pig. Had a table booked a couple of weeks ago and on the day, for various reasons, wanted to pull the booking forward by an hour. The rudeness that the request was meet with was unbelievable. I appreciate I was probably asking for something that wasn't...
Spot on. And Ockenden Manor certainly earns their star. The flavours and textures on the plate are amazing. If you're after a good nosh then maybe starred places are worth avoiding but if you want to see what can really be done with good ingredients then treat yourself.
If you want to try a Michelin Star closer to home try Ockenden Manor at Cuckfield. You can book a Sunday night special which includes dinner, overnight stay and breakfast for only £70 per head ( drinks are obviously extra ! ). The dinner was fantastic. 10/10.
I'm gradually becoming disappointed with Graze. Their taster menus used to great but they have reduced the number significantly and the choice has become very restricted.
Fishy Fishy in East Street is great ( obviously assuming you like fish !).
They don't cram in too many people, the service is spot on and the food fantastic. Best of all, it isn't very expensive. Three courses, plus oysters, plus a bottle of wine for less than 80 quid for two people.
