I'm a realist. Western World insular views aren't reflective of what the wider worlds views are. Between China and India you've a rapidly growing 2 billion plus consumer juggernaut just to begin with.

You're going down the George Bush line of thought there. A belief that one has a right to interfere in other nations affairs because you don't agree with what's going on there. There's no turning back for the human race now. Eventually it will end up as Aldous Huxley prophesised in A Brave New...

We eat Shark out here all the time in the guise of Flake in fish and chip shops. In fact shark is quite a common meat eaten in Australia.

Always found that a nonsensical term to use when killing something. It's really just a term people use to make themselves feel bad about killing an animal in this case yes? Which does seem rather hypocritical that you're content to let your cat who doesn't need to kill to survive rip other...

You can make that call in your world. You've not right to tell others however to make that call on their lands or waters.

Having watched a very interesting doco not long back on taxidermy which delved into killing of African animals for their subjects it's actually the Governments who dish out licences to foreigners to shoot wild animals for large sums of money. Actual poaching isn't undertaken by the foreigners...

    Rhinos in Mozambique now extinct

Exactly, why? What does your pontificating on this message board really do for Rhinos and Whales in the end? make you feel better about yourself? I think that's it. Did all of your caring save these Rhinos? Doesn't look like it. It's immoral to you. Your morals however are not the be all and...

Depends who is looking at the Rhino at the time. You and I would see it as a money spinner for tourism. However we aren't poor Africans. If I was a poor African I'd probably see it as a way to make some nice money. If that meant keeping ym kids fed i'd think "screw the rhino". I'm not one of...

Food(cows, sheep, whales, crocodiles), Labour (horses, oxen, Llamas) Tourism (orangutans, pandas, koalas ), Products (fleeces, leather etc) Plenty of uses for animals as a resource.

They are a resource yes. However like most resources you need to manage them to get the most benefit from them. They have been poorly managed.

Going by your reasoning for what is acceptable to eat meat from a Whale most definitely is given its had a free life up until then. You Agree? Tell em why exactly I should give a shit if a few Dolphins die? More raats and Mice die every day. Are you suggesting we should care about their deaths too?

Humanity has nothing to do with eating animals. It's down to what you think is cute or adorable. Cow, Whale, Chicken it's all the same process by the time it ends up on a plate. Do you cry inside too when a rat has its spine broken in a trap and its left struggling for life foe a few hours?

So you've never bought meat that was produced by a farmer who has made his living by using animals as a food resource? You're indignation is hilarious.

I think you'll find they are. 2000 years of farming says you're wrong.

I don't think about them to be honest. If they all disappeared it would not effect me one little bit. However a few dying is hardly big news.

Whaling never actually caused one Whale species to become extinct. Nor have Whale numbers been decreasing due to any farming still going on. In fact it's the opposite. Whale numbers are increasing yearly through all species. Given only 1-2 nations farm a few whales the over reaction to this is...

Killing Minke Whales in reasonable numbers will not have the impact you suggest. Who said what you stated? Some biased party? You can get anyone to say anything for the right amount of $ and there's plenty of whale propaganda paid for by various organisations. Whales aren't some sacred beast...

I think you'll find it's China, not Japan that is far more into the weird medicinal compounds. And killing whales is fine if you kill the right kind.
