What makes it all the worse for me is I love every single other film the Coen brothers have made before and since. This is the only blot on their landscape in my opinion - and a grim one at that.

All very good films, but none of them are better (or worse) than the originals - just different. Yojimbo, Seven Samurai and the first versions of Cape Fear and The Man Who Knew Too Much are all excellent.

Very much this. And whoever it was who decided that remaking The Pink Panther with Steve Martin as Inspector Clouseau was a brilliant idea should be taken outside and shot.
