Not been to Aitutaki, but I did walk around the entire coastline of Rarotonga. All the locals thought I was mad... But it's only 20km and flat all the way. And quite a novelty to follow the same road without turning around, and still end up where you started from 4 hours later...
This one is pretty little too - only 200 m high, but all bloody soft ash and sand and a bitch to climb in 40C heat.
Note: while I have stood at the top of Anak Krakatau, it wasn't actually doing this while I was there:

Got caught in a tremendous sandstorm in Jaisalmer. Quite an awesome sight standing on the roof of the guesthouse watching a wall of dust roll in off the desert. It was so fine it got everywhere, even if you sheltered indoors - we were finding it in our underwear for weeks afterwards...
