Spending has gone up each year in the PL, so I think you need to compare what we're spending now, with what others are spending. Our football is a disaster at the moment, but it's not like there are any teams spending less and doing better.
Indeed.
Ok.
Except that for anyone who pays attention to the Premier League, it's not unfathomable at all. Teams in the bottom half string a couple of losses together all the time, and the job is to bounce back, but every single year some teams fail to, as we have. Games are generally close, and with a...
If his tactic is to do as you say, then that's because he feels it's our best chance of getting points, not so that he can say 'we were in the game'. It also doesn't match up with how we played earlier in the season.
How many clubs are doing better than us, on our budget? It's none isn't it...
Cheers. Reassuring.
Well that wasn't the day to be doing something else. We had some good performances earlier in the season, and did more than just defend. I'm optimistic that the problems can be fixed over the summer, if we're able to stay in the division.
Indeed, although I'd add that 2 wins and a loss would also see us go down (ie, 6 points, meaning we need 3). I can't see us getting 2 draws from our games against the top 4 sides, so our only hope of 3 points is to beat Newcastle. Odds on that, are currently 6/5 with the bookies - so unlikely...
Did we? I didn't watch it (doctor's orders), but seeing the highlights and looking at the stats gave the impression it wasn't comfortable.
That's the impression I have.
So many fans put too much emphasis on the result when judging a performance. Most times we play that game against Wolves, we...
Christ, you're more optimistic than me.
We probably won't get to 37 points, so if Cardiff can beat Fulham, and Palace don't turn up, they should finish above us. Beating Fulham is no easy task, so we're favourites to stay up, but there's still plenty of doubt.
I disagree. Kayal is capable of shouting at Jose if he wants, and it's up to Jose to react if he was at fault, it doesn't require the manager to just copy what Kayal says. If Jose was at fault, and didn't react, then the manager might join in with complaining 5 minutes later, or take him off.
I can't remember seeing any of our players make as many simple mistakes as Stephens the other day (at home against Cardiff). He was a mess. He did actually improve, but clearly looked nervous.
Although the fans did try and cheer them on, the fans were disappointingly quick to moan each time we...
Or the fact that the ref was crap. They were trying to win, and you could see their frustration.
So if you've got two kids, and one criticises the other, you just immediately do what you're told and tell the other one off? Christ. How dare the manager think he'll handle Jose's lack of running on...
I disagree. The accusation is probably fair for the game against Southampton, but not for the games against Bournemouth and Cardiff. We were attacking, we got countered. It is of course true for our trip to Wolves which, thankfully, worked.
Excused on the basis that although he's paid to know about the teams in the league, he doesn't really have time, so he just looks at the game stats and makes it up?
Maybe the odd player dropped their heads during the game, and weren't up for the fight in that particular game, but there's no way...
Some on NSC have accused them of doing just that. I completely disagree with Keown's lazy journalism, and the view of some of our fans. It seems Chris disagrees too.
