Yes we are.
So we beat 'boro, meaning their max is 94.
Boro vs Burnley:
either they both drop 2 points, putting them on 93 & 92, while we're on 93
or one of them drops 3 points, putting them on 92 and 94, or 95 and 91
Not really. If we win our 6 games, we're promoted, regardless. 'boro could still finish above us even if we beat them, but to do so they'll have to beat Burnley, who would then finish below us.
"There's never been a point this season where we winning all remaining games wouldn't give us promotion (including the playoffs)."
So the teams just below us will win the playoffs at worse if they win all their games (including the playoffs).
The point is, it's not easy to win all your...
That's what I like to here
I pray you're right. Come on Leeds.
It would need to be Sunday. But it doesn't work like that, you can't cheat the footballing gods. They see a fan pop away for a minute, and they make a goal happen because they think it's funny for us to miss it. But you...
It looked like the wheels had completely come off at 'boro - 3 losses in 4 agains Blackburn, Charlton and Rotherham, together with their manager not taking charge of a game. That's proper imploding. But thanks to some luck against Hull and QPR, they seem right back on track.
Of course I hope...
If you just saw us at the top of a form table, fair enough, I thought you must have just picked the games since our last loss.
Anyway, the point is that we know we're in decent form, but we're not the only ones. Of course we'd swap places with Burnley or 'boro, in terms of points, remaining...
If you just look at recent results, you wouldn't pick us out as THE most in-form team (although we are one of the teams in good form and doing well). We're not the most inform team over 2,3,4,5,6,7,9, or 10 games. We are over 8, so saying we're the most in-form team because of those 8 games is...
That's not half empty, it's completely empty!
At the start of each season, it's in everyone's own hands to win the title, but no one says that, because it's stupid. There's never been a point this season where we winning all remaining games wouldn't give us promotion (including the playoffs)...
It doesn't mean that. We're not the most inform team for the last 7 or 9 games and cherry picking 8 as the number of games doesn't make us the most inform team.
But we know we're not going to win those 6, so unfortunately we're going to be desperately cheering on Leeds, Preston and Huddersfield...
Yes it's in our hands, but so what, it's not like winning the next 6 is likely. It'll still be in our hands if we're in the playoffs, and a lot easier than winning 6/6.
Well obviously it only applied before 'boro lost some points. The original conversation, from the OP, was about automatic promotion, and that wasn't in our hands until 'boro lost points yesterday. If you include winning the playoffs, then that's been in our hands since the first day of the season.
In reality, 1-0 would do it, but purely for the point of discussing finishing top 2 (and ignoring that swine), if we win 4-0, Hull and 'boro could be doing the same.
Are you new or something? It's already been explained a couple of times that that's wrong. 'boro are 3 points ahead and have a game in hand and Hull are 3 points ahead. If Hull beat 'boro, we beat both, and we all win the remaining games, we'll finish level on points and they have a better GD.
