Out of interest, when was the last time you saw a police car out on rounds and not speeding off to some other incident. When I started driving in the early 80s, they would lie in wait all over the place - I don't think I've seen one for maybe 20 years. No wonder people start to ignore the law.

While I agree with the sentiment, would it work for people who are working while driving ? What about cabs etc.

I would say, whilst driving about, you see someone driving while on the phone every 2 minutes, it is so commonplace. The penalties should be much higher, an instant ban for 28 days might help. It's not difficult, I keep my phone in my trousers pocket - I couldn't get it out if I wanted to...
