Just had another look around on line, found out the guy had a new clutch fitted, and apparently that could be causing the sound if the linkage was effected? Any ideas or am I going in the wrong direction?

Do you know roughly how much it'd cost to fix either the baulk ring/synchromesh hub? I hope its nothing sky high

Just asked around on a mini forum they are saying its a worn baulkring which naturally happens (apparently) , but if you double de-clutch it gets around the problem. (no idea how much they are to fix) And I have been looking at different oils, people recommend all sorts but by the sounds of it...

Came to the conclusion that the gear box might need a look at, the problem is that when you go from 3rd to 2nd (when the revs/speed is too high) it makes a sorta grating sound? But is alright when at a slower speed/less revs.. Wondering if its better to get the gear box reconditioned by a...
