If you re-read the original post you'll read that I wasn't disputing that I was saying that unfortunately some people do die at this time of year and not ALL deaths could be attributed to COVID-19.
Thank you, so despite many protestations from a single poster, we were correct in assuming that the number would increase but some of the deaths, albeit extremely sad and regrettable as any death is, would be within the Govts numbers.
Please could I ask you read the full thread, this whole question, I feel, was raised by me in a very respectful way, the sharpness of my recent replies are a reaction to a poster whom I consider to be either a troll or someone who cannot grasp the concept of reasonable debate, that said, my...
"Hyping"
I'm stating that there are seasonally 1,600 deaths, at the moment there are around 700 COVID-19 related deaths, I'm ASKING how many "other deaths" there were and whether SOME of the COVID deaths would have ordinarily happened within the 1,600 at this time of year through "underlying...
No, I don't. I'm playing the bloody number DOWN.
With that statement I am down playing the numbers not sensationalising. What I am saying is at this time of year around 1,600 people sadly die daily, so when we report say 600 deaths of COVID-19 I'm saying is that a true number down directly to...
Absolute rubbish, I'm asking a question and stating that the figures stated MAY not be accurate, which is true, trust me I have absolutely no doubt of the severity of this crisis.
Same figure I was told, seasonality plays a big part in the data and Feb / Mar is a seasonally higher period than say June / July. 1,600 for the UK was the number quoted and they also said that many of those would be linked to flu but the flu wasn't the real cause but underlying health...
Just wonder why we need to politicise this, the way in which we gather data was probably set by previous Governments, or not, it matters not, we're in a crisis during which we just need to focus on protecting people and savings lives, surely?
Fair point, that part of the question came from a radio interview with a senior medic who distinguished between the two because of the often used phrase, with underlying medical issues. In her words, the patient was likely to succumb to some additional ailment due to the current medical condition.
What are you talking about? I am saying it MAY not be as bad as people perceive and you ALWAYS have natural deaths which COULD be higher at this time of year. FFS, have a word with yourself.
Given that around 1,600 people die each day during this time of the year do we have any way of knowing what the overall death rate is at the moment? My point being is that every death is a tragedy for the family and friends of those involved but how many above the seasonal average are we? There...
