    The Community aspect was very strong in the bid for planning permission. Some snobbish objectors tried to say it was only for football fans (shudders and clutches at pearls) whereas the club pointed out they wanted to benefit the whole community.

    American Express were persuaded to sponsor Albion in the Community by Dick Knight when he was chairman. Then, when the stadium was ready, the naming rights included community. Tony Bloom carried on with the Community work. You could help the AITC and organise something for the over 50s like...
