The rainy monsoon season is fairly predicatable and happens in July. It was early this year. Tourists visit these caves regularly although not as far in as the football team went. They were forced to go in further because the water poured in from an early downpour.
Don't underestimate the problems. Of course confidence is needed, but don't forget one of the Thai Navy seals has already died when trying to take oxygen into the cave.
