if there is a change in the amount to be paid or the payment date, the person receiving the payment (the originator) must notify the customer in advance. if the originator or the bank/building society makes an error, the customer is guaranteed a full and immediate refund of the amount paid.

Then you are lucky, for me and a lot of people, each month can be a struggle and every penny is virtually budgeted for. So when a dd is taken the day before payday, it does cause me a problem.

That's if my bank honour the direct debits and don't return them unpaid

Mine has been debited too, has put me overdrawn as wasn't expecting it out til the 1st or 2nd. Bit pissed off about this
