A curious one this one.
According to the SDNP site, The Drove (the Falmer to Woodingdean road) from the junction of the A27 as far as the junction with Village Way is outside the SDNP.
Village Way itself is inside the National Park.
Their views might well be considered, but I'm not sure a great deal of weight will be attached to their 'stink'.
Besides, even after this, there would still be plenty of hotel guests to go round.
Not so.
Bennett's Field is privately owned. The Bennett family may wish to develop it - but they may not.
After that, the land runs out, and is under the planning control of the South Downs National Park Authority. Then planning consent for this sort of development would be nigh on impossible.
Not surprising at all, I'd say.
Brighton doesn't only thrive on tourism. Conference and corporate delegations are vital too, hence more hotels being approved.
It's a fair point.
However, if it's 4-star, it could well be pricey - even if the club offers a discounted rate to STHs. And you'd only be staying there 20 nights a year; where will the rest of the trade come from?
