It's not wrong at all. It's tough at the moment for everyone. And I am as much of a punter as anyone.
But I would just be hesitant to assume that if a pub has a policy like this it's going into the landlords retirement fund.

BUT, if it's a lovely pub, with great staff etc surely paying a little more (and 5.55 is by no means outrageous for a Guinness) is fine?

Transient customers ARE different. One of my pubs has both City and Rovers (Bristol) supporters and away fans visiting and as a football man I love it, but there is a clear difference between a group never likely to visit your pub again (or at least sparingly) Vs regulars...
