Both of you writing like you genuinely have inside info, so which is it?
(The likely answer is RDZ will have some input but we aren't just going to sign players on his whim)
I tell you what though, he looks like a Moises/Webster hybrid and VERY different to Colwill. It's a surprise. Be interesting to see if his aggression on the ball ls coached out of him a little or actually if that is what RDZ wants.
I feel incredibly confident that a player who is liked by both our algorithm and RDZ will be a success. Hard not to be super excited by JP, Dahoud and Igor, especially after a few months with RDZ.
His card count was very high last year. Betting on him being booked seems an absolute gimmie next season, especially when RDZ has him man marking the striker/10 all over the pitch.
Someone had some stats (on this thread maybe) that suggested he had played there a little but his team had never won (which obviously can't all be put down to him playing there!). Or close to that.
Opposing players better watch how physical they are with our younger players. You would not want to get on the wrong side of our Igor. Literally looks like an MMA fighter doing promo for the new kit.
Welcome to the Albion!
Sounds really positive. Red and yellow cards a massive concern in such a physical league but loads of players have dodgy seasons. RDZ will know him well too so it's a reasonably exciting signing.
I think Colwill would play if all fit. RDZ is obsessed with body position. Where you receive the ball, what options your body position offers. That's one of the main reasons he's so keen on a left footed CB- wasn't really a priority before he joined.
You simply don't have the same options if...
The fact he isn't an obviously top tier defender suggests to me we might also be after another LCB. There's been plenty suggested on here- Hincapie, Medina, Theat etc. And the timing of this suggests that we'd still sign Colwill if he asks for a transfer etc. I wouldn't be surprised if we spend...
Just seen this..can play LB and DM.
Interesting comment about lacking in progressive passes. Think you can take that with a pinch of salt. We simply wouldn't sign a CB we felt lacked in that department under RDZ.
At 13-14 million, in this day and age, that doesn't say 'he's coming as a certain starter', feels much more like right player and right price to add squad depth.
I don't think it's him or Colwill.
Right now we have three CBs including JP plus Veltman. That isn't enough.
A fit Webster is still an asset.
I think we would sign Colwill no matter who else we sign, and wouldn't be surprised if RDZ sees him as someone who can cover both DM and LWB positions...
