Saw Jimi Jeffries a few times in the 00's. I really liked him but he's gone off the boil a bit now. I quite like angry comedy but only in small doses, JJ gets a bit tiring after about 40 mins and this shows in his live shows, about an hour in he looks bored and too drunk to care about getting a...
I'm not getting the love for Milton Jones. Every time I've seen him I just sit stony taced, he raises no titters here. Not clever and not funny. " unfunny Uncle jokes" is the best way to describe his humour.
Been part of my comedy landscape since I was 15. So yeah, must be 25 years. As you say consistently funny. I'm Alan Partridge remains my favourite comedy programme of all time. I can return to those two series over and over and it never gets tired.
Rob Brydon is a good shout.
His series "Human Remains" remains one of the most tragically overlooked comedies of all time. It was utterly, utterly genius.
I also enjoy Miles Jupp when he pops up. Very funny man. He is great on The News Quiz on R4.
And a very new one...comedy duo The Pin. They...
Rhod Gilbert has done a couple of excellent stand up routines but his talent lies in his radio show and interaction with others like on his work experience show which is excellent.
Stanhope is very good indeed but is missed off my all time list because I find him too cynical and actually rather depressing.
Neil Hamburger is worth a look. His stuff is hard to find though.
I remember getting into Billy Connolly on cassette when I wasn't about 11. Most of it went over my head but I found him hilarious. Loved his travelogues too. Only saw him live once and that wasn't last year so doubt I will again. Will always have a soft spot for him.
Bill Hicks at the time but he had limited output.
Ovearall I'd say in no significant order:
Billy Connolly
Jack Dee
Frank Skinner
David Mitchell
Sean Locke
And a mention corn Frankie Boyle who has had some outstanding moments.
