Not really a part of the managers job, no.
Very few, if any, had any issues with Welbeck going into the season as the man up front.
Undav is Maupays replacement, but both Potter and RDZ seems to prefer Welbeck... mainly because he's done well despite the lack of goals.
Anyone who believes Maupay would accept being the second choice behind Welbeck is fooling themselves. He's not the kind of guy you put on the bench for a sustained amount of time.
If he leaves, he leaves. He's done well but is by no means irreplaceable
We'll see what happens. Not a lot of activity in any club in terms of transfers and contract renewals yet, think people are probably chilling on the beach currently.
"I do feel sorry for him", well, dont because he seems very happy unlike in United where he was forced to play on the wing and unlike in Arsenal where you either go to turn into shit or to suffer from injuries year out year in. Welbeck was never a world class player: he was not world class while...
Sorry. Yes, his history is what it is and probably the main reason he only got a one year contract. If he keeps up I'm sure his contract will get extended, but I could see the club waiting to make that decision as long as possible.
Thing is.. once you reach PL level, you are better than about 95% of all the national teams out there. No reason to be starstruck by these things, though I understand why as I imagine there is some "holy shit" factor to this for you long-time fans. While I agree Welbeck is good enough for...
Yes I would have snubbed Callum Wilson for a bunch of reasons, the main one being "not good enough".
As for negativity, I'm not the man. This is what I wrote in the player rating thread yesterday:
"Welbeck 6 - decent performance, could see his experience, and once he gets to know his team...
While I agree there is no reason for him to be patronised by anyone I struggle to see how he is this brilliant super player some seem to believe he is. Maupster scored ten goals his first season in the PL: Welbeck never once in his career scored double figures in a league season. I realise that...
In what way did Welbeck contribute more than Maupay yesterday?
If Welbeck made a lot of clever runs while Maupay didnt, how come Maupay saw significantly more of the ball?
Welbeck passed the ball 13 times yesterday, in 86 minutes, and failed 3 of them. Maupay passed the ball 34 times, and...
I think he was alright but the "new player bias" is pretty obvious on NSC. If it was Maupay missing that chance, people would have said he is shit and wanted to bench him. If it was Connolly missing that chance, people would have wanted to ship him on loan to Preston.
As I see it his...
