Ha you're now the odd one out here on NSC - you Bathophobe
From here in the better half of Sussex we had (give or take) an even split to the day.
3 hours to, 6 hours there, 3 hours back.
Train tickets for me and the kids were originally £84, but using Trainline with a Family and Friends pass...
"Can we get closer to the houses?"
"We can pretend to live there"
"Nobody is going to mistake us for residents of Royal Crescent". :lolol:

As we're not going to let this thread fade away, I have one other recommendation even though everybody reading this thread is doing so while living in Bath.
As time was ticking by I was left thinking 'oh well I guess it'll be a McDonald's tea before getting back on the train'.
Thankfully on...
I'm sure there is plenty of other stuff, but as said our day today was great.
Roman Baths (book online, cheaper and no queuing).
We walked up to the Royal Crescent - nice place for a picnic.
Then we went on the Tower Tour at the Abbey, a little pricey for what it was but it was a good little...
Yeah Fratton on the way out.
Dilton Marsh is a Geoff Marshall least used stations video on YouTube.
I'm sad enough to have a tiny pang of excitement about going through a station where Geoff once sat.
I can see how that would be an issue.
Very much like when my family moved to Reading in the late 1970's, during the race riots...
... actually come to think about it, nothing like that at all.
So much for me sharing a nice destination, that is nearer than appears, when traveling by train, with the masses of Sussex.
It would appear I'm the only fecker in Sussex that doesn't spend every waking hour in Bath. :lolol:
I only changed our plans (from the science museum) because Richard Herring was trying to start a war between Wookey Hole and Cheddar Gorge!!!
Naturally a train doesn't get you even close to either destination but Bath loomed large so I thought what the hell and am now jolly pleased I did.
The connection was only 5 mins going out, although it's a 20 minute wait coming back.
Seemingly I'm a bit of an outlier thicko for not broadening our train travel horizons sooner.
But if anyone is twiddling their thumbs, with the kids, at the end of these holidays I think you'll be hard...
I'd never been before but can thoroughly recommend Bath as a day trip by train.
Booking a week in advance with a F & F Railcard got the tickets down to just £43
The Stats have just started the return journey, having arrived at 11:30.
Lovely city, very clean and picturesque, even before taking...
